Compare the full stay before choosing a hotel deal
Start with the final accommodation total for the same dates, guests, beds and cancellation terms. Then add the parking and journeys that location creates. The best saving is a lower complete trip cost for a room you can actually use.
- Price your planned nights and one realistic alternative set of dates.
- Compare equivalent room categories and refundable or prepaid conditions.
- Record the checkout total, including mandatory fees and taxes, without adding an included resort fee again.
- Add parking, airport journeys and extra trips to your planned activities.
- Check payment timing, the incidental hold and the cancellation deadline before committing.

Compare Las Vegas hotel rates on SpotlightA lower room total can still produce a more expensive stay
These are hypothetical three-night offers, not hotel quotes. Both accommodation totals already include taxes and mandatory fees; the additional costs are expenses outside those totals.
| Cost for the whole stay | Offer A | Offer B |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation checkout total | $390 | $430 |
| Parking you will use | $60 | $0 |
| Other transport | $20 | $20 |
| Complete comparison | $470 | $450 |
Offer B costs $40 more for accommodation but $20 less overall. If you will not bring a car, recalculate without the parking: the result changes. Use our rental car versus rideshare comparison to estimate actual journeys.
Check dates without assuming a cheapest month or booking day
Compare the complete stay on your own dates. If you have flexibility, try arriving or departing a day earlier and compare the entire trip again, including flights and any extra night. A cheaper nightly average can still mean a higher total when you stay longer.
Midweek and different months are useful alternatives to test, rather than guaranteed bargains. Conventions, concerts and major events can change the result. Our cheapest-month guide explains how historical averages differ from an individual booking.
Match the room and the booking conditions
- Room: check the named category, bed configuration, maximum occupancy and any view or accessibility requirements. Compare a king room with a suite by its actual layout.
- Payment: distinguish a deposit paid toward the stay from an incidental authorization hold. Ask how much must be available on the payment card and when the hotel releases the hold.
- Cancellation: record the deadline, hotel time zone, penalty and whether the rate is refundable. Check what happens if arrival is delayed.
- Seller: keep the reservation confirmation and check who handles changes. A direct offer and a third-party offer can have different conditions even when their room names look similar.
MGM’s reservation FAQ, for example, distinguishes direct and third-party reservations and describes its booking deposit. Use your own reservation’s terms for the exact deadline and charge.
Compare member offers and no-resort-fee options
If you qualify for a military offer, check the military-discount eligibility and booking guide before comparing rates. Confirm the required proof and purchase route, then compare the complete stay with public offers under the same room and cancellation conditions.
Check eligible member rates alongside public rates, with the same room and cancellation conditions. A membership, casino offer or booking package may have conditions on dates, booking channel or remaining charges. Do not assume a complimentary room means a zero-cost stay, and do not gamble or spend extra to chase a hotel saving.
Four Queens explicitly advertises no resort fee. That is a useful comparison point, but its total still depends on room price, taxes and your other costs. Our no-resort-fee hotel guide compares options and exceptions.
The FTC’s fee-pricing guidance requires mandatory lodging fees in the upfront total price. Government taxes and optional extras may be excluded initially, but the final payment amount must be disclosed before payment is requested. The rule regulates price presentation; it does not abolish resort fees. Read the final summary and our hotel-fee checklist before paying.
Recheck a flexible booking before its deadline
If your reservation allows cancellation, compare prices again while that option is still available. Confirm the replacement’s availability, exact terms and cancellation process before cancelling the original. Keep both confirmations and check any refund timing; avoid two nonrefundable reservations for the same stay.
