Valley of Fire from Las Vegas: Closures, Entry Fees and Day Plans

Check Valley of Fire’s closure notices before choosing the day, entrance or trail. Current restrictions can rule out a particular visit. A scenic photograph or a generic year-round description does not establish access for your date.

Three access checks come before an itinerary

Read the official park page for the complete closure list and current conditions. Its specific annual-closure notice is essential even though another general line still describes year-round opening. Confirm your trip against the specific notices and posted restrictions.

The West Entrance construction notice, dated July 28, 2026, directs Monday–Thursday visitors to the East Entrance via State Route 169 or 167. It lists Friday–Sunday West Entrance access under normal operating hours and says construction is expected through the end of 2026. Recheck progress rather than extending that forecast indefinitely.

Use the actual entrance and a confirmed return

Map the hotel, currently usable entrance, chosen stops and return journey. Replace the old 60-mile round-trip claim with the route you would actually drive. Include any rental collection, fuel, road conditions and extra charges along the selected route.

The park specifically warns that an outbound Uber or Lyft can leave visitors without a return ride. Arrange suitable return transport in advance. A guided visit is another option when the operator’s actual date, pickup, return, entry inclusion and itinerary fit; a tour booking does not override a park closure.

Separate day-use entry from the rest of the cost

The current state-park fee schedule gives Valley of Fire private-vehicle day use as $10 for Nevada vehicles or $15 for non-Nevada vehicles. Confirm the classification and applicable payment arrangements. The park currently does not require ordinary day-use reservations; camping and other booked uses have separate conditions.

For a $15 vehicle entry shared equally, the entry component is $5 each for three people or $7.50 each for two. Those calculations exclude rental, fuel, food, transport and every other purchase. They are not separately advertised per-person admission products.

Choose a short plan from the current map

The linked official brochure and map identifies Atlatl Rock, Elephant Rock, the Cabins and other stops. Choose the particular viewpoint or walking route and check its surface, distance and current access. Do not treat every named formation as a roadside stop or an accessible walk.

The brochure distinguishes Elephant Rock’s direct path from the longer loop. Its Fire Wave/Seven Wonders route is also a particular mapped trail, not permission to follow any social-media shortcut. Follow the current closure notice when it is more specific than the older brochure.

For an ordinary day visit, work backward from sunset and include time to reach the exit. The park lists the visitor center separately at 9 AM–4 PM. Check the actual operating date and conditions rather than using sunset as a guarantee of visitor-center service.

Let conditions change the outing

Check the National Weather Service forecast and alerts and the park’s notices before leaving. Pack the water, food and other supplies needed for the actual party and plan; this guide does not prescribe a universal fluid amount or promise that dawn makes a summer hike suitable.

Use designated parking and routes, protect rock writings and other park features, and follow staff and posted instructions. If the date or conditions do not fit, compare the separate Red Rock access and outing guide, checking its own fees and reservations. The Red Rock timing guide addresses that different park’s seasonal arrival decision.

Official park notices, fees and map resources checked October 16, 2026. Confirm the current entrance and closures. No new hiking visit, fixed driving time, guaranteed easy trail or universal accessibility claim is made. All three original pictures remain; they do not establish present access.
