Evaluate a comp-room offer by the exact dates, room and total amount you would still pay. A waived room rate does not automatically cover resort fees, taxes on chargeable items, parking or optional extras. Compare an offer already available to you with a suitable paid reservation, and do not gamble more to obtain it.
Official program and booking sources checked October 14, 2026. This guide explains how to assess and use an existing offer. Dollar examples are illustrative, not current hotel quotes.
Start with the offer in your own account
Sign in through the operator’s official rewards or reservations site and read the offer attached to your account. Record the property, eligible nights, room category, booking deadline and instructions. Another traveler’s screenshot does not establish what you can book.
MGM’s published benefits list access to free or discounted room offers through a member’s account, based on play levels. That is different from a promise that joining the program produces a particular room offer. Our rewards eligibility guide explains the distinction between points, tier status and targeted offers.
| Item | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Dates | Which nights qualify, and are additional nights paid? |
| Accommodation | Which room category, beds, guests and stated view are included? |
| Remaining charges | What mandatory fees and applicable taxes remain payable? |
| Benefits | Are parking, credits or other extras included under this specific offer? |
| Conditions | What booking channel, account, deposit and cancellation rules apply? |

A comp room and a resort-fee waiver are separate benefits
MGM’s resort-fee waiver terms require eligible Gold+ status at the time of stay and a qualifying direct reservation in the member’s name with their account attached. The benefit applies to up to two reservations per trip. Its current benefits page also identifies exclusions, including all-inclusive room packages and conditions for convention or group reservations.
Read those rules alongside your actual offer. A complimentary base rate, a points redemption and an eligible fee waiver are different features. Do not infer that one automatically includes the others or that another operator follows the same rules.
Compare the amount you would actually pay
Use the same stay dates, guests and a room you would genuinely choose. Include all required accommodation charges and taxes. Add parking or other extras you intend to use. If the comparison involves different hotels, include transport and whether the location changes the rest of the itinerary.
| Assumed amount | Comp offer A | Paid offer B |
|---|---|---|
| Room-rate subtotal | $0 | $270 |
| All remaining required charges and taxes in this example | $150 | $45 |
| Total booking cost | $150 | $315 |
| Difference | The comp booking is $165 lower under these assumptions | |
These are invented prices for equivalent accommodation and dates, not offers from named properties. The comp stay still costs $150 in the example. Any real difference in room, cancellation conditions, points used or extra travel costs also belongs in your decision.
Evaluate a credit by what it can pay for on your actual trip. Check eligible outlets, dates, exclusions and expiration. An unused credit does not reduce the cash total you pay.

Read payment and cancellation conditions before accepting
Confirm any deposit, no-show charge and deadline attached to the exact reservation. MGM’s reservation FAQ gives a general cancellation condition with exceptions for particular booked offers. A promotion’s own terms may be different, so save them with the confirmation.
Also distinguish a temporary incidental authorization from a permanent accommodation charge. Ask what authorization is required and when it is released under the property’s process. Include the effect on available funds without counting it as an automatic final expense.
If a host or reservations agent discusses a change, ask for the revised details in writing. A conversation about reviewing your bill is not confirmation that a room night or fee has been waived.
During the stay and at checkout
- Keep the confirmation and offer conditions available.
- Check that the correct account and eligible reservation details are attached.
- Ask the relevant desk to explain a charge or an existing benefit you believe applies.
- Review the itemized final bill and record any confirmed adjustment.
- Keep your original gambling and time limits regardless of the answer.
Do not promise additional play in exchange for a possible adjustment, and do not include an unconfirmed future comp in the trip budget. Our gambling-budget guide explains how to keep that optional expense separate.

When a paid booking is the better fit
Decline an offer if its dates, room, location or conditions do not suit the trip. Compare a paid offer you can use rather than a high advertised rate for a room you would never buy. An existing reward can be useful, but it does not need to determine the whole itinerary.
For the wider booking decision, use our hotel-rate comparison method and complete trip-cost checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Does “complimentary” mean I will pay nothing?
Check exactly which charges the offer covers. Get the final booking total and any amounts due at the property.
Will a host always waive the resort fee if I ask?
Do not assume an adjustment. Check the benefit or offer terms and rely on the operator’s confirmed decision.
Can I book through any seller and keep every loyalty benefit?
Confirm the required booking channel and program conditions. A third-party price and a direct loyalty offer can have different terms.
How do I become eligible for an offer?
Read the points, tier-status and offer guide. No universal bet size or playing time is established here as a way to unlock a room.
