To rent a boat or jet ski near Las Vegas, choose the lake and pickup method first. A marina rental on Lake Mead, a Henderson tow-and-go jet ski, and an outing from Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave involve different journeys, equipment and permissions. A lower rental quote can be poor value if it requires towing you cannot arrange.
Operator and National Park Service information checked October 16, 2026. Fleet availability, water access, operating areas and final charges need confirmation for your date.
Where to start your rental search
| Rental lead | Location and format | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Boating Lake Mead / Las Vegas Boat Harbor | Hemenway Harbor on Lake Mead; the operator lists 490 Horsepower Cove Road, Boulder City | Exact boat and check-in dock, reservation length, driver documents and riding boundary |
| Lake Mead Jet Ski Rentals | Henderson-based tow-and-go personal watercraft | Your tow vehicle and trailer setup, launch arrangements, or a separately confirmed towing service |
| Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina | Lake Mohave; official site advertises boat/WaveRunner rentals | Current fleet, date, rate, driver eligibility, marina access and allowed route |
The Henderson jet-ski operator explicitly makes the renter responsible for towing to the launch. It links to contact options for third-party towing. A “near Lake Mead” rental is therefore not necessarily a craft waiting in the water. Include collection, towing, launching and return in the booking period; do not treat every rental hour as riding time.
Cottonwood Cove is on Lake Mohave, not Lake Mead. Its boat/WaveRunner page directs visitors to contact the resort, but the retrieved page did not provide a complete current fleet-and-price comparison. Ask for those details rather than assuming a search result guarantees a particular craft.
Current Lake Mead boat examples
Boating Lake Mead publishes these examples, subject to change and availability. A full-day label needs the actual seasonal pickup/return times; do not automatically interpret it as eight hours.
| Boat | Full day | Half day | Fuel and deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crest pontoon, up to 10 people subject to load limits | $630 | $420, first come first served | First fuel tank included; $500 deposit |
| 22-foot sport boat, up to 8 people subject to load limits | $720 | $420, first come first served | Fuel used charged separately; $500 deposit |
The operator takes reservations for full days only. Its motorized-rental conditions require all drivers to be at least 21 and have a boating safety card/license regardless of age or home-state requirements. Rentals are limited to Boulder Basin, life jackets must be worn, and cancellation inside 72 hours is restricted. Confirm the contract, weather policy and deposit treatment before paying.
At six people, the $630 base is $105 each before extras. A $500 deposit would mean $1,130 committed or available for the base and deposit together; the deposit is not automatically a final expense, and its release conditions need confirmation. Fuel inclusion also makes a pontoon-versus-sport-boat comparison different from simply subtracting their headline prices.
Park entrance and boating requirements are separate
The NPS fee page lists $25 for one private noncommercial vehicle for one to seven days and says the park accepts electronic payment rather than cash. A qualifying existing entrance pass can cover entry under its conditions. Do not multiply the private-vehicle entrance fee by every passenger or count it again when it is already included in your arrangement.
NPS says marina rentals provide the vessel pass and aquatic-invasive-species decal. Ask a separate tow-and-go business explicitly what it supplies instead of assuming that statement covers your rental. Vehicle entry, the craft’s documentation and the rental payment are different items.
For Nevada operation, NPS specifies approved boating education or a proficiency exam for people born on or after January 1, 1983 operating vessels over 15 horsepower. Rental-company conditions can be stricter, as the marina example above shows. Every rental operator must receive a safety briefing. Check the rules for the actual state waters, vessel and driver; an informal on-site explanation is not a promise that a missing required certificate is waived.
NPS requires a life jacket for each person aboard a personal watercraft; children under 13 must wear one while underway unless in a fully enclosed area. Follow any stricter rental requirement too. Get the approved operating boundary, weather decision, return time and emergency procedure during the handover.
Compare the complete outing
List rental, applicable tax and fees, fuel, park entry, transport or towing, food, equipment add-ons and the separate damage deposit. Ask what any damage waiver actually covers and excludes. Keep an allowance for the trip home; a security hold can reduce available credit even when it is not a final charge.
As a hypothetical comparison, a $400 ready-at-marina rental plus $60 in other costs totals $460. A $320 tow-and-go quote plus $180 for towing/launch logistics and the same $60 totals $560: $100 more. These are invented worksheet amounts, not current rental offers. Replace them with written, comparable totals.
Read the advance-booking checklist before paying. Take water, sun protection, suitable clothing and a way to protect essential belongings; use the trip packing guide as a starting list, then follow the operator’s requirements.
Alternative water and day-trip plans
A Willow Beach kayak trip has different launch and route rules from a motorized rental. Lake Las Vegas is another distinct destination; compare a Lake Las Vegas day trip or overnight stay for its actual activity and access. For a land-based outing, the Boulder City and Hoover Dam guide separates museum and dam visits from time on the water.
