Check the exemption before booking the room
You can avoid a Las Vegas resort fee by choosing a hotel that does not charge one, qualifying for a documented waiver, or booking an offer whose confirmed terms remove it. Asking at checkout is not a reliable savings plan. If the fee is mandatory on your reservation, budget for it until the hotel confirms an applicable exception.
- No fee: verify the property’s current policy and the complete room price.
- Waived fee: confirm your eligibility, booking channel and exact reservation.
- Included fee: a fee already included in the displayed total has not necessarily been waived. Do not add it again.
Compare equivalent rooms, dates, guests and cancellation terms before deciding which offer saves money.

MGM’s daily resort-fee waiver terms cover up to two room reservations per trip for eligible Gold+ members who book directly, in their own name, with their eligible account attached. Gold+ status is required at the time of the stay. The terms say a front-desk visit may be required to confirm eligibility and request the waiver; they also limit convention, trade-show and group reservations unless billed to the qualifying member.
Check the current terms against your booking before paying. A free membership alone does not establish this benefit, and a third-party booking should not be assumed to qualify. A hotel without a resort fee can still cost more
Four Queens currently advertises no resort fee. That is a useful policy to check, but the room price, taxes, parking, location and your planned journeys still matter. A no-fee label is not a promise of the lowest complete trip cost.

These are invented teaching prices, not hotel quotes. The first two offers are equal before tax and other costs; the confirmed waiver saves $150 before any associated fee tax. A different member room rate can change that result. Use the actual final payable totals and never add an already-included fee twice.
Upfront pricing does not abolish resort fees
The FTC’s lodging-fee guidance requires known, calculable mandatory charges in the prominently displayed upfront total. Government charges and selected optional extras can initially be excluded, but the final payment amount must be disclosed before payment is requested. The rule regulates price presentation; it does not ban a particular fee or fee amount.
Do not treat declining the pool, gym or Wi-Fi as a confirmed exemption. Ask whether your reservation has a written waiver rather than assuming that unused amenities make its mandatory charge optional. What to do when the bill differs from the booking
- Keep the booking confirmation, displayed final total and the terms of any waiver or package.
- Ask the hotel to explain the specific line item. Check whether it is already included, an optional purchase, an authorization or an additional charge.
- If you qualified for a written waiver, show the relevant confirmation and request an itemized correction.
- Keep the hotel’s written response and corrected bill. If another booking company took payment, establish which business can address that charge.
You can request a discretionary adjustment, but do not count one as a saving until it is confirmed. A complaint, a polite request or a special occasion does not establish a guaranteed refund.
