Luxor vs. Excalibur: Room Categories, Location and Total Costs

Compare Luxor and Excalibur by the exact room, sleeping arrangements and complete cost for your south-Strip plans. If sleeping inside Luxor’s pyramid matters, select a Pyramid category; a Tower room is a different location. A hotel theme does not establish room condition, pool availability or included attraction tickets.

Separate Luxor’s Pyramid and Tower categories

Named king categoryPublished sizeListed beds and maximum guests
Luxor Pyramid Premier King420 square feetOne king; maximum 3 guests
Luxor Tower Premier King449 square feetOne king; maximum 3 guests
Excalibur Royal Tower King352 square feetOne king; maximum 3 guests

Sources: Luxor’s Pyramid Premier King and current Tower and Pyramid directory, and Excalibur’s Royal Tower King. The named Luxor rooms are 68 and 97 square feet larger than Royal Tower King respectively; Tower Premier King is 29 square feet larger than Pyramid Premier King.

Size is one feature, not proof of better maintenance, air conditioning or value. Check current category photos, the floor plan and required access arrangements. A maximum of three guests does not supply a third bed automatically.

For a family, price the actual beds and permitted guests

Request a suitable two-queen or other category when the party needs more than one king. Confirm every guest’s age, occupancy, extra-person charges and any crib, rollaway or connecting-room request. Use the family room, pool and cost guide to compare sleeping needs rather than choosing from the outside theme.

Check each desired attraction or show separately: the ticket product, eligible ages, date, final charge and whether your actual hotel offer includes it. A family-oriented hotel description does not make every show or venue suitable for children.

Check pool features for the travel date

Use the pool-season and guest-access checklist to confirm the actual deck, opening conditions and any separate adult venue. Ask directly about a particular slide, children’s area or rental before building the trip around it.

A hotel with several pools may operate fewer facilities during part of the year. Neither the room name nor a winter hotel reservation establishes that every pool feature will be available.

Use the south-Strip tram for the route it actually serves

MGM’s transportation directory lists Mandalay Bay Express between Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur. Check current service, direction and stops for the journey you need. This is separate from the Las Vegas Monorail, and it is not a tram to New York-New York or every central-Strip destination.

Map the remaining route from the room, station or hotel entrance to your actual venue. Confirm an accessible route if required and allow for the return after an event. A straight-line map distance is not a reliable door-to-door walking time.

Test the complete stay rather than a budget label

Invented three-night comparison: a suitable Luxor booking totals $510 and its planned journeys cost $40, giving $550. A suitable Excalibur booking totals $450 and its planned journeys cost $120, giving $570. The $60 lower room total is outweighed by $80 of extra travel, leaving the second plan $20 more expensive.

These are hypothetical complete quotes and journey amounts, not current prices or a claim that one hotel normally costs more. Meals, activities and getting to Las Vegas are additional. The budget-hotel comparison explains the full-cost test, and the fee-and-deposit guide separates spending from temporary card holds.

Choose the suitable named room with the theme, beds, confirmed facilities and complete price you prefer. Do not rely on a blanket guarantee about cleanliness, cool rooms, quiet floors, upgrades or cheap weekends.
