Park MGM and New York-New York are worth comparing by smoking policy, exact room category and the journeys you will make. Park MGM’s published policy covers its casino and shared areas as well as rooms. New York-New York’s non-smoking rooms do not make its entire casino smoke-free.
Smoking policy is a concrete difference
Park MGM’s policy prohibits smoking in its casino, restaurants, bars, rooms, corridors, common areas and resort pools, with designated smoking areas elsewhere on the property. That is an operator policy, not a measurement of air quality or a promise of a silent stay.
New York-New York’s FAQ says rooms and suites are non-smoking but identifies designated smoking areas in its casino, bars and other areas. Use the non-smoking hotel comparison if shared-area policy is central to the decision.
Compare these named king rooms
| Category | Published room details | Listed maximum guests |
|---|---|---|
| Park MGM King | 406 square feet; one king; alcove bed and window seating | 2 |
| New York-New York Soho King | 350 square feet; one king; described as newly remodeled | 3 |
Sources: the current Park MGM King and Soho King listings. The named Park room has 56 more square feet. The different maximum-guest listings show why room area alone does not determine occupancy or supplied beds.
Confirm extra-person and bedding arrangements with the actual booking. Do not use a general hotel maximum to override a category’s own limit. Compare a two-queen or other suitable room when one king does not meet the party’s needs.
Check the actual venue and route
List the restaurant, show or arena entrance that matters to you, then inspect its route from the booked hotel entrance and room. A nearby venue does not guarantee a short internal journey, an accessible crossing for every guest or an empty route after an event.
MGM’s transportation directory identifies ARIA Express between ARIA, The Shops at Crystals, Bellagio and Park MGM. New York-New York’s FAQ says it has no Monorail system. Do not treat the free resort tram as a direct train to The Cosmopolitan, Resorts World or every Strip hotel.
Check operating status and the remaining walking route. The heat and cooling-plan guide helps identify outdoor parts and alternatives; a tram listing alone does not establish an entirely indoor journey.
Compare the complete cost for your itinerary
Invented two-person, three-night example: Park MGM’s suitable room totals $640 and planned journeys add $20, giving $660. A suitable New York-New York room totals $580 but the chosen journeys add $90, giving $670.
The second room saves $60, but adds $70 in journey costs, leaving it $10 more expensive for this subtotal. These figures are hypothetical complete amounts, not current room rates or fares. Different actual plans can reverse the result.
Use the fee-and-deposit guide to identify included charges and temporary card holds. Compare cancellation terms with the flexible-rate checklist; a lower restricted rate is a different purchase from a refundable offer.
Make the choice from confirmed priorities
Give Park MGM additional weight when its broader smoking restrictions or named room fit an important need. Give New York-New York additional weight when its suitable room, chosen venue access and complete quote fit better. Ask about room location if noise matters, rather than assuming every room at either hotel has the same conditions.
