For Mexican food off the Las Vegas Strip, compare the exact restaurant branch and the meal you want. Lindo Michoacan on East Desert Inn and Juan’s Flaming Fajitas on West Tropicana are sit-down meal candidates. Tacos El Gordo’s Sunset Road location offers another off-Strip destination for a taco-focused outing.
Choose by menu, location and total outing cost. A restaurant’s distance from the Strip, décor or customers’ background does not establish its food quality, authenticity or value. This is a sourced planning shortlist, not a report of new personal meals.
Three off-Strip destinations to compare
| Restaurant and branch | Published address | Planning reason to compare it | Check before going |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Original Lindo Michoacan — Desert Inn | 2655 E Desert Inn Road | A sit-down restaurant with separate dinner and lunch-special menus | The Desert Inn menu, operating hours and reservation arrangements |
| Juan’s Flaming Fajitas — Tropicana | 9640 W Tropicana | A fajita-focused dinner or a different meal-period menu | The selected branch and whether lunch, dinner or weekend brunch applies |
| Tacos El Gordo — Sunset | 2560 W Sunset Road | An off-Strip option for a taco outing | Current hours, menu and the route from your hotel |

Lindo Michoacan: choose the Desert Inn branch deliberately
The operator identifies the East Desert Inn restaurant as The Original Lindo Michoacan and provides separate links for dinner, lunch specials, desserts and drinks. Its other named locations are separate choices.
Start with the menu for the day and meal you want. For a group, compare individual entrées with any shared dishes and ask how many people a shared order serves. If a particular preparation, dietary requirement or spice level matters, confirm that with the restaurant rather than inferring it from a broad cuisine label.
Do not treat a general travel-time claim as your actual journey. Check a live route from your own hotel, including the return trip and any relevant parking.
Juan’s: match the menu to your arrival time
Juan’s official menu page lists dinner daily from 3 p.m. to close, weekday lunch from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday brunch from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. A lunch or happy-hour price does not establish the dinner total.
Confirm the Tropicana branch when making a reservation or requesting directions. The business also lists restaurants in Henderson and North Las Vegas. Those can fit a different itinerary, but they are not interchangeable pickup points.
If ordering fajitas, check the number of people the dish is intended to serve, the protein choices and which accompaniments or add-ons are included. Use the current selected menu for pricing rather than an old trip recollection.

Tacos El Gordo: use the current location status
The official directory lists the Sunset Road location at 2560 W Sunset Road. At this check, its hours are 10 a.m.–2 a.m. Sunday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–4 a.m. Friday–Saturday. Confirm those hours for your date before planning a late visit.
The same directory marks the Charleston Boulevard location closed. An old address in a review or a business name on a map is not enough to establish that a branch is operating. The Las Vegas Boulevard restaurant is another branch; it should not be presented as the off-Strip Sunset address.
Check the operator’s menu and ask about the items you want. A few tacos and a full sit-down meal are different orders, so compare the food you would actually buy rather than labeling the entire business “cheaper.”
Compare the complete outing cost
Allow for food, drinks, applicable tax, any disclosed charge, your chosen gratuity and the journey. A restaurant farther from your hotel may still be worth visiting for its menu, but lower food prices alone do not establish a saving.
Illustration, not a current menu or fare quote: a dinner costing $90 including tax and tip at your hotel and a dinner costing $70 plus $30 in return transport cost $90 and $100 respectively. The second option costs $10 more overall. Replace those inputs with your actual order and route.
Use our dinner-for-two budget examples and rideshare and taxi comparison to build that budget.
