Book Las Vegas Hotels Direct? Compare Offers, Perks and Terms

Compare a Las Vegas hotel’s direct offer with other booking channels using the same room, dates, guests, final price and cancellation conditions. A direct reservation can have useful program eligibility or a simpler route for changes, but the actual offer determines the benefit. It does not automatically guarantee the lowest complete cost, a free upgrade or a refundable stay.

Use the hotel-fee, deposit and authorization guide to separate final expenses from temporarily held funds. A dining credit does not itself remove a resort fee, and a required fee already included in the displayed total should not be added twice.

MGM Rewards: distinguish the room rate from other charges

MGM’s earning guide says registered guests should attach their MGM Rewards number to earn on eligible folio charges. It includes the nightly room rate for reservations made through MGM’s website or call centers.

For third-party stays, the same guide says members may earn on the resort fee and add-ons such as early check-in or late checkout, but not the nightly room rate. Eligible dining and other folio charges have their own rules; taxes and gratuities are excluded. This is more specific than saying an agency guest is invisible to the program or that every dollar earns.

Check the exact offer, account and eligible charges before valuing rewards. Our players-club guide separates membership, balances and individual offers. Do not spend or gamble extra just to obtain a benefit whose value is smaller than the cost.

Direct booking can still be nonrefundable

MGM’s reservation FAQ describes a first-night room-and-tax deposit, refundable with cancellation at least 72 hours before arrival unless the booked offer excludes that condition. It directs guests to the third party for changes to reservations made through a third-party booking site. These are MGM’s published conditions, not a universal Las Vegas cancellation rule.

The Venetian’s hotel terms give another example: prepaid offers are generally non-cancellable and non-refundable unless their offer says otherwise, and conflicting offer terms take precedence over the general hotel terms. Read the actual selected rate before paying.

Save the cancellation deadline and penalty alongside the final price. For changing plans, use the flexible-rate and rebooking comparison. Confirm a replacement reservation and the old booking’s cancellation consequences before making a change; an unconfirmed refund is not money already available to spend.

A rate guarantee has eligibility conditions

The Venetian’s Best Rate Guarantee page describes a qualifying lower online rate found within 24 hours of booking directly, with a claim and approval process. Its linked conditions determine eligibility. A search-result screenshot or a differently restricted offer is not automatic approval; use the hotel’s current instructions before relying on a match.

Check whether a credit expires during the stay, applies only at specified outlets, requires charges to the room, or excludes tax and tips. Count only spending the benefit actually replaces. A requested view, connecting room, early arrival or upgrade needs its own confirmation; the booking channel alone does not establish it.

Value a credit against your own plans

Hypothetical equivalent-room comparison: offer A costs $600 in total and includes a conditional $50 dining credit. Offer B costs $570 without that credit. If you would otherwise spend and can redeem all $50 on eligible dining, A’s comparable net outlay is $550, or $20 less than B. If only $10 replaces planned spending, A’s comparable outlay is $590, or $20 more than B.

Those are illustrative amounts, not live offers. Keep the cancellation terms equivalent and verify that all required charges are included. A lower headline rate, a larger advertised credit or direct booking by itself does not settle the comparison.
