For a Vegas stay, choose the hotel, entrance and return route together. A convenient Strip location can reduce transfers; a downtown stay can suit a Fremont-focused trip; Summerlin or Henderson may fit an itinerary built around those areas. None provides a guarantee of safety. This guide compares practical location choices rather than declaring an entire neighbourhood safe or unsafe.

Compare areas by the trip you will actually make

These are itinerary groupings, not crime grades. In particular, Park MGM is not a north-Strip hotel: its official address is 3770 S. Las Vegas Boulevard, by Park Avenue. Check the property’s map rather than relying on a vague area label.
Use crime information carefully
Start with LVMPD’s statistics and recent crime-mapping resources. Look up the address and surrounding route, use the same time period and offence categories when comparing, and check the map’s coverage and notes. A raw count of reports is not a probability that a visitor will be harmed. Areas have different sizes and numbers of residents, workers and visitors.
Recent guest reports can help identify a confusing entrance, broken access equipment or a noisy return route, but they are not a representative crime survey. A higher room price, a new building, crowds, or the absence of a casino does not by itself establish lower risk. Ask the property about the particular arrangements that matter to your trip.
Questions to ask the hotel
- Which entrance and staffed location should I use when returning late?
- Where are the designated taxi and rideshare pickups, and how do I reach them from reception?
- How do I contact security from my room and from the public areas?
- What access controls, room-lock reporting process and luggage-storage arrangements are provided?
- Does my planned route involve steps, bridges or a long outdoor stretch, and what alternative transport is available?
LVMPD’s hotel safety guidance advises knowing emergency exits and contacting security about suspicious activity. Locate those exits and the property’s security contact when you arrive. Independently contact the front desk if someone requests sensitive information in an unexpected call.
Plan a return journey you can use comfortably
Choose the return route before going out, keep enough phone charge and budget for an alternative if circumstances change. Use the property’s designated pickup rather than assuming a car can stop at any Strip entrance. Uber’s rider guidance says to compare the plate, vehicle and driver’s photo with the app before entering, and to request the ride while inside where practical.
Location-cost example: assume two complete hotel quotes for the same three-night stay: $600 for one convenient to your activities, or $510 elsewhere. The second saves $90 on the room, but four additional rides assumed at $25 each add $100. Its combined allowance becomes $610, or $10 more. These are hypothetical totals, not room or rideshare quotes and not a safety assessment.
Know who to contact
For an emergency, call 911 and give your precise location. For LVMPD non-emergency police response, the department lists 311 or 702-828-3111.
