Las Vegas Travel Rewards Credit Cards: Fees and Benefits

The best credit card for a Las Vegas trip depends on the annual fee, purchases you already plan to make, and rewards you can actually use. Compare VentureOne if avoiding an annual fee matters, Sapphire Preferred for travel and dining rewards, Sapphire Reserve for benefits you will use across the year, and Bonvoy Boundless when its hotel award fits a real stay. Keeping a suitable existing card may cost less than opening another one.

Selected U.S. personal-card features checked against issuer terms on October 16, 2026. This is a comparison, not an approval or savings guarantee. New offers and existing-account terms can differ; check the current pricing, rewards agreement and your repayment costs before applying.

These are selected rates, not every benefit or exclusion. A Marriott point, Chase point and Capital One mile are different currencies. Compare the actual redemption, rather than ranking cards only by the largest multiplier.

What the card features mean for your trip

Sapphire Preferred: check the booking route and credit

Chase currently lists an up-to-$100 Chase Travel hotel credit each account anniversary year. The first $100 of eligible Chase Travel hotel purchases does not earn points. Compare the same stay’s complete portal and direct-booking prices before valuing that credit. The card also allows transfers to participating travel loyalty programs; check the required points and award availability before transferring.

Purchase example: an $800 flight bought directly from the airline at 2 points/$1 plus $600 of eligible restaurant purchases at 3 points/$1 gives 1,600 + 1,800 = 3,400 points. This excludes bonuses, other purchases, interest and fees; redemption determines the points’ usable value.

Sapphire Reserve: value credits against spending you would make anyway

The issuer lists up to $300 in travel statement credits per account anniversary year; qualifying purchases do not earn points. If you receive the full credit on travel you would otherwise buy, $795 − $300 leaves $495 of the annual fee not offset by that credit. The charged annual fee remains $795. Additional benefits only help to the extent you use them.

For lounge access, check the current membership, guest, entry and capacity rules for the airport you will actually use. A lounge benefit does not ensure entry during every delay.

Bonvoy Boundless: search the anniversary award before valuing it

The annual anniversary Free Night Award covers an eligible night with a redemption level up to 35,000 points; certain hotels still charge resort fees. Search the exact dates and standard-room availability, check the certificate’s expiration and any permitted points top-up, and read the remaining cash charges. Do not assume it covers any available Cosmopolitan or Bellagio room.

The card’s purchase points are separate from hotel-program points for a qualifying stay. Do not read a combined promotional multiplier as the card’s standalone earning rate, or assume card ownership makes every hotel booking eligible for loyalty benefits.

VentureOne: keep miles and cashback distinct

At 1.25 miles/$1, $2,000 in eligible ordinary purchases earns 2,500 miles, excluding bonuses and elevated categories. Use your account’s redemption quote to calculate the dollar offset. For reimbursement of past travel purchases, the product terms require redemption within 90 days after the travel purchase posts.

Three Vegas rules that can change the result

  1. The hotel booking channel matters. Marriott’s MGM Collection supplemental terms require a qualifying channel and rate for Marriott stay points and elite-night credit. They list MGM Resorts/MGM Rewards websites and the MGM Rewards app as nonqualifying channels. Compare the actual booking totals and benefits; paying with a Marriott card does not change those stay rules.
  2. A casino restaurant is not automatically a dining-category purchase. Chase’s rewards category definitions say hotel and casino food merchants qualify for dining only when classified as restaurants. Check how your purchase posts, especially when charges are routed through a hotel bill.
  3. ATM cash is not reward spending. Capital One’s rewards rules exclude cash advances, balance transfers and cash-equivalent transactions from earning. Sapphire Reserve also excludes casino chips and betting transactions. The CFPB explains that a credit-card ATM withdrawal can incur advance and ATM fees, with interest starting immediately. Keep gambling cash outside your rewards plan.

Compare the complete yearly value before applying

Estimate usable rewards and credits from normal planned purchases, then subtract the annual fee, interest, other charges and any extra cost of the required booking route. Compare that result with the card you already have. A welcome offer only belongs in the calculation if you qualify and can meet its requirements without unnecessary purchases; check the current offer directly.

For Chase redemptions, the Reserve offer terms describe Points Boost promotions on selected travel bookings. The displayed value depends on the card and eligible offer. Check your account and checkout quote; do not assume every 10,000 points always buys $125 or $150 of travel.

If carrying a balance, compare borrowing costs before rewards. The CFPB’s grace-period explanation describes when paying the full balance by the due date can avoid interest on new purchases and how carrying a balance can change that. Rewards do not make unaffordable travel affordable.
